07042016 (live at st.paul s anglican church, athens) is the debut album of modal analysis, brought by the greek experimental band of mmmd (also known as mohammad). nikos veliotis and ilios are currently performing as the mmmd duo, with further focus on deep monolithic sounds, low frequencies, inter-modulations, dark textures, and distant folk nuances through custom made instruments (cello & electronic bass) and software. the release carries parts of the mmmd live performance at st.pauls anglican church in athens, recorded on the 7th of april 2016. the concert was hosted by fasma festival, on the opening day of its 2016 edition.

m.d.o.f. (multiple degree of freedom) ep brings us to the 8th modal analysis release an improvisation-noise extract from the studio collaboration between the greek electronic producer panos kyveleas, (a.k.a. biomass), and the italian impro-noise duo r.o.m. (alessandro quintavalle/electronic bass & luca pastore/tenor sax

the seventh modal analysis release comes from athenian producer and dj, anfs. following his remix for kondaktors signal 1, anfs returns to the label with his debut release, ground, a four track ep which consists of original material. borrowing sounds from early twentieth century folk greek culture, the ep is dominated by a rhythmic canibalistic spirit and a noisy distorted cue. ground 1 functions as an introduction, or rather ones initiation to the mystic rituals that prevail. the artist uses drones and distorted textures which increase in ground 2 and are backed up by drums that beat in a hard-and-slow ethnic tonality. ground 3 reveals a paroxysm of emotions which comes as a result from the combination of basslines and vocals that create a complex and twisted vortex. the trip ends with ground 4, a more stripped down monotonic ensemble that serves as an epilogue and a catharsis.

the eleventh modal analysis release introduces umwelt, with his debut appearance on the label. density ep is a 4 track release blending umwelt s unique style which is a perfect fit with the modal analysis aesthetic. industrial meets electro here, and the lyon based producer joins the sound of athens. density #1 fully reflects umwelts skills on enigmatic riffs and fat bass-lines. density #2 and density #3 sneak into the more dance-floor minded record bags, while density#4 feeds a melodic/melancholic feeling whilst hard hitting beats bring it home.

bow ep, the 5th modal analysis release, delivers two cutting-edge techno tracks from the manchester-based duo and, as well as a remix by russell haswell. bow #1 and bow #2 highlight the distorted broken-beat style that and specialize in. completing the record is haswell, who displays his own harsh, rhythmic noise aesthetic with a decomposition of bow #1.

the third modal analysis ep, sand, comes from the talented greek producer sawf, who has a number of releases on perc trax. sawfs two original tracks for ma expose the listener to a deep, industrial environment. offering a modular interpretation of sand #1 is belgian sound designer (and one-half of experimental duo sendai) yves de mey.

outermost (a.k.a. miltiades) - surface ep ma13 comes from another greek artist, outermost also known as miltiades. the up and coming athenian producer counts a number of recent releases with the vocalist, venus volcanism and as templeyard studio with goolyk. surface ep is a 5 tracker of different slow techno interpretations, blended with dystopian atmosheres and nostalgic melodies: outermost delivers his identical sound and enriches the modal analysis catalogue.

the twelfth modal analysis release brings athens based morah to the frontline of the label s roster, along with the new york based, vapauteen on the remix duties. voltage ep carries 3 original tracks by the greek electronic music producer, along with a very special reintrpretation by the american artist, also known as shawn o sullivan. aesthetics vary from slow and hypnotic rhythms to driving ebm riffs and harshly distorted percussions. morah approaches the sound of modal analysis while maintaining his distinct charachter as a producer, using here field recordings and processed vocals.

the 10th modal analysis release is the second full ep of the label’s co-founder, anfs. mass ep demonstrates anfs unique sound aesthetics, offering tracks to satisfy the most demanding music-heads. mass#1 is a sadistic composition of distorted percussions and basslines hitting hard in a slow rhythmic groove , while mass#2 stands closer to the dancefloor thinking norms, without though leaving behind any of the creepiness of mass#1. on the flip side, mass#3 brings back the mood of a horror movie soundtrack, with bleepy riffs on the leading sequence. finally, mass#4 is another rhythmic industrial composition, which connects mass ep with the traditional eastern influences that can be found on anfs debut release, ground ep

we started ‘the classic series’ featuring tracks that we love, bought, played out and which we have the feeling more people should know about them. for this fourth release, it is a great honor for us to welcome such a living legend, a pioneer from the chicago house & techno scene: roy davis jr. this project includes three very rare cuts and timeless moments of deep chicago house.

sonic ep is the second contribution of sawf to the modal analysis catalogue. the greek producer, and core member of the modal analysis roster, delivers a mind-blowing 4-tracker with a clear intention to interpret an industrial-noise aesthetic from a techno perspective. sonic#1 is a cut from the intro of sawf’s live set, offering a powerful combo of processed vocals and distorted soundscapes. sonic#2 comes as a long and stepping beast that creates the uncomfortable feeling of a horror movie soundtrack. on the b side, sonic#3 blends blurry vocals with rhythmic industrial elements on a breath-taking bass-line, while sonic#4 presents sawf’s charisma on impro-noise compositions. *sonic#4 was recorded at ‘sonic shelter studios’ in athens.

kondaktor, the athenian producer who made his debut last year at further records, releases music for the sixth modal analysis record. signal ep includes two original tracks signal #1 and signal #2 which were created through the manipulation of field recordings, that are structured as a collage of sounds delivering a deep and claustrophobic sensation. on the other side of the record, sawf and anfs construct two versions of the tracks taking a more industrial and rhythmic approach to the existing works

two years have passed since his release at sandwell district and after his remix contribution to sawf’s sand ep, belgian producer, yves de mey, returns to modal analysis with a two-track ep. the first track allures the listener to an abstract heavy sound, whereas, the second track follows a more distinct rhythmic structure. both tracks create an atmospheric environment with the use of modular sounds. the ep wraps up with a shifted club remix of the first track.
