paul dickow aka strategy is a musical polymath with a signature sound derived from his immersion in hardware-based electronic music. he has spent close to two decades traveling freely through house, techno, rave, noise, ambient, and sounds more difficult to categorize. strategy’s sound is inimitable because it is literally built by hand - his hands. through all of this sonic journeying, including multiple full length releases, a constant has been his love of reggae and dub, yet somehow a proper dub album has never emerged - until now.

strategy returns to chris farrells idle hands label for the first time since his seeds of paradise lp, and his first record of the year following releases for nite owls diner and zam zams sister label khaliphonic in 2018. here he turns in a bassy house number by the name of tropical storm, one for those sloppy grins in the summer months. the most requested track id on shanti celeste’s dekmantel mix, here it finally sees the light of day.

2017 was a serious year for von d, with releases on a number of great labels including our long-format imprint khaliphonic, plus amar, moonshine, lion charge and more. for zamzam, von d has delivered “over” -- a brooding, burning 140 anthem providing serious heat as we head into the dark winter months. “over” features a powerful half-time reggae riddim built from von d’s signature warm, enveloping bass and restrained but powerful drums. tambourine and guiro add flavor while the snares slap, and meekman’s kete drum rocks throughout, adding a swing and live feeling missing from many contemporary in-the-box sound system tunes. melodica and synth skank in unison, underpinning a dizzying spread of analog signals & sonics...

we are extremely happy to welcome jerome meyer aka von d in the evergrowing moonshine recordings family. von d, is renowned for his ability to fill dance floors, fuse genres and hold his own in collaborations with some of the biggest names in the underground music. with three albums and multiple eps under his belt for labels such as black acre, boka or argon, he is also recognized for featuring exclusive and unreleased dub or dubstep tunes, alongside his own music. with regular shows in europe, asia, new zealand, australia and five tours in the usa, his world fan base is testament to his skill. von d is on an increasingly prolific trajectory since last year. recent 12’s on scrub a dub and khaliphonic (zamzam), and forthcoming tunes on lion charge and moonshine have signaled his renewed focus on dubwise productions. the french producer is going back to his musical roots. he continues to evolve his style and sound, touring around and setting clubs on fire night after night.
