dimension ep is a compilation of various etherwerks artists. alongside with hannu ikola, kitkatone and rasmus hedlund who on the ep is collaborating with ness, the release introduces a new artist for the label’s roster, ilkka saastamoinen. the vinyl presents four distinctive ways to approach modern techno.

aether series is home for bass heavy and dj-friendly experimental music and sound art. the first release of the series is ikolas mini-lp titled *core*, originally recorded for *machine soul - the documentary film* soundtrack. the film focuses on pioneering finnish electronic music artists such as mika vainio, jori hulkkonen and jimi tenor. the score is composed as a tribute to their work and is now released as an independent piece on vinyl.

hannu ikola is a finnish artist and owner of the etherwerks label, releasing his third record on the imprint. *chrysalis* is a four track opus of raw and swarthy techno. in the tracks ikolas musical inspiration from experimental and ambient music can be heard.

etherwerks second release is an ep titled triplane by hannu ikola. the release includes three unique tracks with a diverse approach to modern techno. starting off the release, a blend between experimental styles and big room techno, *black ingrained dust* draws from driving rhythmic elements and swelling textures. *escape pod* is a cut with classic drum machine aesthetics, echoing the golden age of techno. the closing track *pylon* is a dubby techno heater with growling synth basses and ghostly detuned chords, presenting a strong analogue flavour.

the debut release from helsinki-based etherwerks, ether001, is a raw techno cut by producer/dj hannu ikola. the title track dense matter glows analog warmth and warehouse atmosphere swirling from dark hypnotic textures to crispy chord sounds echoing dubtechno aesthetics. a mix of fresh breaths with old school reverence from the north. the b side features a remix by another helsinki based techno producer samuli kemppi (ostgut ton, mote evolver)

futile demise ep is an emotional and disconcerting journey through the mind of finnish artist juha puupera. drawing on influences from norwegian black metal, uk sound system culture and italian horror cinema of the 1970s, gruth mixes dark and aggressive tones in his sonic palette. his production methods are often experimental and the style rarely fits into one box as it spans forward-thinking techno, black ambient and doom industrial. with his ep, gruth shapes montevideo-based tormenta electrica label’s first release. of the four tracks featured, two are collaborations with the finnish techno and ambient artist ikola, known for his etherwerks label, while the mysterious helsinki-based violinist and sound designer kujo contributes to the other two.

machine soul is a documentary film about finnish electronic musicians. it is a glance at the methods, rituals and philosophy behind the music, but most of all at the burning passion that drives the artists forward year after year. machine soul tells the story of finnish electronic music scene from the artists point of view. the documentary is accompanyed by this limited white vinyl 12 inch release.
