nice price deal !!! this second outing in the series of special remix 12s from lee perrys the mighty upsetter album finds tony moody boyz thorpe back at the controls, and this time hes brought his full kit of soundsystem tools along to the job. rocking the spot on an uptempo steppers rhythm, his fired up take on international broadcaster is a tight sprung burst of bogle energy, laying righteous claim to the ground where dancehalls brash excitement meets dubsteps plunging bass dynamics. awash with selectah sounds and mile long reverb delays swirling around a monster sub-bass undertow, an insistent funkin for jamaica beat drives the ride while a slick sing jay hook from lsk rotates to habit forming effect. with the added attraction of mr scratch and mr manuva doubling on abstract deejay instructions ? adjust your face... adjust your waist - the propulsive five minute sunsplash of international broadcaster will kick up dust in every yard where they do the reggae clap. no vocal version excursion on the backside ups the needles to red on the dubwise meter for extra soundboy satisfaction.
basement freaks name is synonymous with good funky breaks and this new >gypsy breaks< single is no exception. the uniqueness of the track is in its creative use of gypsy scales to create a straight up funk groove thats fun to hear both on and off the dancefloor. the sort of record thats always useful to have within arms reach regardless of time and location. to make this interesting, we signed on the devious production team of goodgroove label-mates breakbeat junkie and djp who reached to piaui, brazil with their party break scratch-tastic sampledelic rub. next up, aniligital boss tal m. klein comes through with a hammondheavy groove on his remix. a fun, funky treatment with a deep upright bassline. our next remixer, umbo has been blowing up lately. with a recent msigning to goodgroove records, the man has proven his worth behind the production console and has given us an irresistible funk break remix that is loaded with ammo and ready to blow up any dancefloor. last but not least, spark arrester from blacksburg, virginia the purveyors of the boogieburg dance party that has the whole world talking come through with a huge floor filling remix. get this record in your bag!
spaced out new material from morphines ra.h, coming with a new edge but in a recognizable style. the ep is powerful mix of dub roots, jacking beats, vocal rings, retro drum machine presets and effects used in strong but simple form. moving into wave territory at times with a firm nod towards the upsetter, scratch... time is one thing. space is another.

!!!!!!strictly limited to 500 copies!!!!!! together with stefan goldmanns debut cd the transitory state, macro releases a strictly limited box set containing five 7? records holding the electroacoustic album voices of the dead. with his releases for innervisions, perlon and macro stefan goldmann has been a key figure at the cutting edge of post minimal techno and the renewal of house music. this album is a distinctively different affair though, reaching far beyond the scope of dancefloor electronics. starting a trilogy of concept albums, stefan goldmann searches for the common root of all music in an electroacoustic setting. from this album turret is already renowned as the intro sequence of richie hawtins groundbreaking de9 transitions mix compilation and was also commissioned by the biblioteque nationale de france for the imeb phonoteque public collection. the artist explains: at first sight we recognise upfront elements like a melody or rhythmic pattern, which we associate with a certain piece or style of music, but there is tension between two notes, hard-to-define background information that at a closer look is found everywhere - within the music of coltrane and stravinsky, death metal and 9th century byzantine chants. if there is anything like a total, secret common ground, than its this information lurking in the background. these are the voices of the dead, the heritage of an endless line of ancestors brought forward through the centuries. i tried to make these elements audible as clearly as possible. really like this weird space ambient one. ive put katorga and izo already into my final scratch computer and have been playing them! (richie hawtin on voices of the dead) record release event at berghain / panorama bar berlin on september 4th, 2008, feat. ricardo villalobos, mika vainio (pan sonic) and ulrich schnauss (tbc).

first single to be lifted from the forthcoming lp is a flawless representation of some of the freakishly danceable tracks contained therein. a wholly original mashup of electronics, my heart rate rapid is sheer falsetto laden, drum battering brilliance. although metronomys elliptical, insidious, multi coloured art pop sounds nothing like colognes legendary purveyors of prog disco, can do offer clues to the lineage the band belong to. add early brian eno, sparks, devo, talking heads, soft cell, and then scratch your head for more recent examples of abstract music, full of experiment, risk, and individuality that somehow resolves itself into pop that makes you sing and dance and feel like a big kid and you realise that you cant think of any, because metronomy are, in the current pop milieu, an utterly unique proposition.
