kirlian camera are one of the pioneers of the italian electronic scene. active since 1979 under the name suicide commando, the band changed name in 1980 releasing the first demo-tape dawn and the self-titled mini-album in late 1981. the early records contain a mix of synth pop and new wave/dance songs, while towards the end of the 1980s kirlian cameras music became darker, turning into electro-gothic sound. nearly every release since then has explored different fields, from industrial to ambient and trip-hop.

slow town records has really picked up the pace this year, delivering essential 12- singles from riccio and qx-i, amongst others. here, they round of 2014 with an ep of positively edible deep house from fouk man hans peeman. in typical peeman fashion, there s plenty of soul to the liquid beats and rich chords of -prologue-, while -monologue- is an attractive saunter through classic detroit deep house with the restless energy of a chicago production. mr k-s remixes the title track, delivering a heavily percussive version that sounds like a plea to head towards the dancefloor, pronto. a touch darker and altogether heavier, it offers an excellent alternative to peeman s eyes-wide-shut original.

former padded cell and bronx dogs man richard sen has made some great records in his time, and songs of pressure is up there with the best of them. joining the dots between murky dub disco, horror soundtracks and ebm, it layers spooky, delay-laden synthesizer motifs and wonky vocal samples atop a heavy dub rhythm and punchy machine drums. pals andrew weatherall and timothy j fairplay deliver a bongo-laden, dubbed-out revision (part wayward exotica, part humid balearic dub), while acca strips the track down to its nare bones for a ket-addled dub. its a fantastic 12inch, and limited to just 99 copies. you snooze, you lose.

neustadtmusik, with great pleasure, presents two excellent new tracks. dietrich & strolch have created an exquisite, smooth piece of music. the two brothers, who are known for their live sets that take their audience on a journey, have combined their passion for percussions and wicked synth sound perfectly. this track takes you to a deep underground techno dance floor where you find yourself dancing with your eyes closed and drifting away into another dimension, to the ocean, the sun and warm sand between your feet and back. sous sol s track on this release has it all, including a sense of delight that brings out a smile on your face. the rolling bass line brings in mind the siberian express rolling through the cold winter landscape of russia while at the same time there is warmth and the heart gets filled with these warm elements. this rolls parallel to a consistent build up throughout the whole track that makes this composition just perfect.

t s as melancholic and longing as a snowy winter s night could be. as warm as a heart could feel when being in love. strong, pushing drums are the inner force, while the the slowly drifting saxophone brings a heart melting feel to this track. ps i love you is the note at the end of a letter that turns it into a loveletter. rafaele castiglione carefully reworked ps i love you. while the theme stays the same, the remix is a different handwriting for the very same words.

nerolis quest for unique sounds this time leads to shannon harris of urbanicity. his rare previous releases being a favourite here at the neroli headquarter. the chicago artist delivers an spacey electric version of his classic kinetic energy, while on the other side he goes real spiritual with the incredible suite that is into the light. you will be entranced by charles stepneys grand daughter brandice manuels divine voice and then brought back to funk in a way that once again proves shannons originality.

mortem returns! one of demands keyartists graces us with two brand new cuts midnight analogs and y.o.u. for our 24th release. the young polish drum & bass producer has been busy in the last 1.5 years finishing various production projects and latetly got back into the studio to finish off this stellar single. after the success of his last single bring it down / malfunction in summer 2013, mortem once again proofs that hes a master of basslines. while midnight analogs is a hard hitting dancefloor track with trademark subtile soul vocals, y.o.u. is more of a deeper afair. a track that builds up slowly to turn into a minimal bass roller. naughty!
