hard ton, italy s extravagant duo of all things house music are back on luv shack records, unleashing six steaming hot tracks on the -queer nation ep- - a precursor to the first full hard ton album that is due for 2017. -queer nation- has singer max swapping his falsetto with a dark mangled voice, reciting names of queer icons over a dry acid house track that rejoices in repetition, and rightly so. classic music head honcho luke solomon s remix of -queer nation- builds up an intense 707 drum pattern, underlining rhythm guitars and max s voice, ending in a bold acid climax. italian newcomers younger than me also take on -queer nation-, marrying an early 80 s wave touch with a classic house approach.

for his maiden voyage through space, shan (victor shan, if it matters to you, and it should) offers good to me, a pair of revelatory dancefloor productions inspired by many a long night and early morning spent at the legendary frankfurt institution robert johnson. a finely-tuned specimen of durable, architectural sampling, the 12” title track runs a rigorous course of breakbeat rhythms and classic chords while a diva’s pleas are made and answered within seven minutes of perfect primetime rave. on the flip, shan churns through metallic stabs and primed drum sequences for the devious “version 1.” shan spent close to four years perfecting “version 1” through various dancefloor demos, no more evident than in the stunning arc of this sought after jam.

a legend to those who know, todd sines makes his first appearance on circus company in a fit of sharp-edged, wildly expressive house music that harks back to the unhinged early days of the label. sines has a career that stretches back to the early 90s, having released lauded records under the .xtrak moniker on peacefrog and 7th city amongst other legendary labels.

wolfgang voigt is a man of many means and monickers, having engendered a unique take on electronic expressionism across multiple media - from riotous early 90s acid to cyber-folkloristic techno or the abstract drama of his current rückckverzauberung project, a pioneering vision to be found on vinyl, canvas or flickering screens. ranking among of the most dense, hypnotic, atmospheric recordings in his oeuvre, the gas releases have since become internationally recognized classics with a cult following, hailed as a wondrous high point in the history of electronic music (pitchfork) and some of the most influential albums of the 90s (the guardian).

ron trent brings back the “dance floor boogie delites” tag for 2 tasty cuts featuring similar flavors to previous releases on prescription and future vision! the artwork is appropriate as “boogie down” will make you want to break out your rollerskates and “in the light” is a nod to early prince!

sascha borchardt aka monoloc is a dystopic atmospheres fanatic that has dedicated his life to the dance floor from an early age. the frankfurt-born artist’s raw yet sleek take on techno and ambient has evolved to characterise his own musical style in his productions. monoloc’s sound is a mixture between techno, dub and ambient, nurturing a tone that is driving, groovy and low-slung, but with greater emotional range. he acquires most of his inspiration from old movies and likes to work mostly with field recordings in his productions. ‘the untold way’ on dystopian is his second album, following his first in 2012, and shows a notably matured development in the artist’s style.

with this ep best works records would like to pre-sent a new artist - luis junior. no stranger to the game! madrid-based luis junior has been a dj and music producer for more than 20 years. in 1993 he re-leased his first 12-inches starting to build a disco-graphy of genre-defying music that pushes forever forward, designing new stylistic frameworks and breaking new artistic ground with each successive production. luis has grown into one of the most cut-ting edge and inspiring artists in spanish electronic music. his versatile production skills are clearly displayed here from soulful and folkloristic influences to techno. the first track on the ep “don’t give up on me” fea-tures singer sobi thurairatnam with sultry vocals and a stong pop-appeal. d-nox and beckers tranform it into a club burner for the early hours. floidos on the back-side is more of techno-orientated banger and with pasion luis junior manages to integrate some spanish flamenco sounds without getting to obvious.

american experimental musican shane english continues in a long tradition of outsider electronics as hes been humbly prolific in his output though the years involving himself in numerous recording projects.collaborating with jonah lange in their group corporate park as well as an ongoing collab with beau wanzer (seeing a release last year under the cp/bw name), english now commits his second full length solo offering to vinyl in the form of the general dimensions lp. sparse machine driven electronics dominate the recording providing a back drop for the occasional pulsating rhythm, metallic clank or floating obscured vocal. while it is a dark and sparse affair there is a quiet downtrodden beauty throughout giving the recording a sense of uncertain serenity in an almost shoegazey way. highly recommended for those into early electronics.

javier orduna grew up with the sound of legendary punk associates like the bad brains, joy division or dead kennedys. but already in the 80s he was dedicated to acid house and the techno of detroit which brought an inspiring vibe to his frst productions. an infuence you can still hear in his recent works. emerging into barcelona s vibrant electronic music scene in the early 2000ers with residencies e.g. at the legendary moog club orduna was soon touring clubs around the world and releasing his output on visionquest, viva music or moda black. what brought him to jeudi were his undeniable production skills and his big warm and crazy heart. for our 26th release we are proud to have him on board with this stunning 4 tracker defnitely will fnd some lovers out there.

even if russian producer gradient logic is found here turning out the business on serbian label disco fruit, the sound on the far away ep comes on like a snappy fusion of garage-ready new york proto house and laid back west coast boogie of the highest order. it s the third vinyl release for tonbe s label, and once more marks the serious clout behind the eastern european operation and its closest artists. just try grooving to the slick bass pops on feel me without being transported to an early 80s dancefloor. there s a more organic funk to lock into on i want you slide, but as ever it s hard to tell where the sampling ends and the musicianship begins on this utterly natural sounding ep.

discodromos ever-essential cocktail d amore label launches into action once more with the ear candy of komodo in tow. magic hour manages to work classic piano house tropes into a suitably cosmic headspace that s loaded with reverb and all things trippy, but its relatively grounded compared to the exotic meditation that the backwoods manage to conjure up on their oriental dub of the track. lizard dance channels early trance vibes to great effect in a celebration of early 90s rave mysticism and then sand dunes offers up a bubbling, friendly twist on acid house. using familiar tropes but still maintaining originality, from start to finish this is a classically rooted record with something to say.

london-based producer, visual artist and nts radio host kit grill has announced a new 5-track ep, titled westway. the ep will be available digitally along with a limited run of 200 vinyl copies designed by alex sullivan, with cover photography by grill and an accompanying video by london director laurie lynch. westway draws on grill’s personal experiences of living in a cityscape and echoes the industrial, fast-paced and repetitive rhythm of his home city, london. the ep was recorded over the course of several months from early 2015 to february of this year, the propulsive beats and driving, shimmering synthwork across tracks like ‘distance’ and ‘street runner’ inspired by and echoing the brutalist beauty of the capital, culminating in the euphoric, widescreen string flourishes of closing track ‘stairway’.

the motorcity boys are back with loveit003 a fresh sounding 4 tracker strongly reflecting the diversity of styles found at their parties. lds kicks thing off with 909 to heaven, a jacking and balearic workout with a rootstrax, chicago style bassline keeping the floor hypnotised until the small hours of the morning. snares, kicks & rhodes is a more laid back jam. lazy warm pads and a slow winding sub bass rise and fall intermittently only to be interrupted by a lo-fi distorted bass that snaps you right out of that trance. nico brun opens the flip side with an absolute banger, hazily reminiscent of that 90’s warehouse rave. lds and nico brun close the ep with an atmospheric collaboration perfect to start or end the night with. splashy beats keep up the footwork whilst pulsating synth sounds slowly wind together and drop with a beautifully crafted sample that’s guaranteed to bring some sexyness back to the dance floor. this ep will definitely be a regular addition to your record bag to spread those warm summer party sounds. bruno farace early support: xdb (echochord / dolly): debut ep? congrats! end monologue is my favourite.

introducing klorin, a collaboration between kenton slash demon and norin, also known as the lead singer of swedish synth-pop trio lust for youth. their debut ep noncompliance floats inbetween industrial hypnotic techno and dark ambient, created in a number of early morning sessions in kenton slash demons copenhagen studio. we were fascinated by the idea of combining something that was almost primal or tribe like rhythmically with an atmosphere that felt tecnologically advanced and futuristic, aiming to capture a feeling of being detached from society in an industrialized, achromatized and modern world.

early electronics by a.k.klosowski made available again through felix kubin s galgarin records label! long before digital sampling was affordable for everyone, a.k.klosowski invented his kassetteninstrument, a custom-made music apparatus consisting of eight sony-walkmen combined with a mute/demute mechanism. the outputs of the instrument could be controlled both by hand and by an automatic trigger module. in addition, a drum computer and some effect machines were fed into the circuit. this technique allowed for very intuitive and simultaneous control over the analogue tape sources.

hudd traxx first release of 2016 comes from parsian house don chris carrier after the label had a big year in 2015 with their 10th anniversary. back to business then and no messing around on this one as carrier delivers 4 slices of gloriuosly crafted house music with something to please everyone. cycle psycho is a raw house groove that filters the main hook up and down throughout the track accompanied by heavy beats reminscent of early cross section releases. dimension 5 is a cheeky acid number that carrier has done so well in the past and he delivers here once again with this. flip for the b side and find more groovy head nodding material with smoke and flesh. tough beats and a trippy vocal with various hits make this one a sure fire future hit. chris rounds things up nicely on b2 with a sleezy deep one for the heads entitled flying sausage.2016 looks set to be another good one for hudd traxx hq.

john tejada and arian leviste are back on areal after their much celebrated release “reactance“. these guys are working for 25 years together meeting up weekly in the studio to try new things. they say themselves that it is their longest and most special collaboration. they use mainly hardware with an old school mind set that comes more from the early 80s nyc hip hop culture than anything else. early pioneers misusing gear and making the best of their limitations. their newest release “hysteresis“ comes along strongly functional for the club.

mystery, poetry, a play of masks: artistic creation according to john cravache. his collaboration with versatile dates back to the beginning of the millennium. a childhood friend of i:cube, he is 44 years old, lives in a paris suburb, and is not a professional artist. getting involved in writing, he has been boasting his artistic and economic independence and his crafty attitude outside of the industrial system. he gave himself time to invent a personal world, wild and funny, which eventually gave birth to the album -cités nomades-. even though his influences are quite varied and avant-garde (magma, captain beefheart, tom waits), they did not really affect this unclassifiable project. poetry and mystery come before all, because john cravache is appearing masked. john cravache and nicolas chaix (i:cube) have recorded radio creations since the early 90s, in particular for chimère fm in paris, as well as numerous long improvised music sessions. at the approach of the millennium, they embarked on the creation of an album that was not completed until sixteen (!) years later. john is a poet, accomplished pianist, and registered truck driver and nicolas, a self-taught musician, have both made the realisation of -cités nomades- possible. this is not an ironic pop album, this album is simply all you want. listening will do you much good
