a1: the ghetto - tremendous edit which has been subject to some huge soundcloud loving. over 9000 plays and 500 favourites and counting! this track takes the basis of the original sample, adding some love with a heavy beat and groove, shuffling percussion. the soundcloud feedback cant be wrong! top track!
b1: for the love of soul - great original track, this suonho reloved version is even better! given a heavy beat, re-arranged and some brilliant percussion. this track really flows, proper groover!
the third release on dublin imprint ghetto quietly presents the debut ep from new york grown, irish dubbed lady grew. a stripped back four track selection of grinding tribal ragga and bass-rave smeared dancehall a la warrior queen vs the bug or dokkebi q, all oiled down in sleazy 808 sub tones. with karl kong (aka prince kong) on the beats and lady grew on the mic this is a riotous sultry affair not to be missed.
estonian duo kgb step up for their debut release on dub police and they certainly arent pulling any punches. the production partnership hit you with two cuts of pure dance floor energy and impact that display their versatility and uncanny knowledge of how to get a crowd going. if you dont know about kgb, you better get to know, as they are quickly establishing themselves as one of the rising stars in underground dance music. with plenty of tricks up their sleeves, there will be no stopping them in 2011!
from the guys behind goodgroove & streetwise music comes a new blog, website and vinyl only label that will be focusing on the new recently emerging ghetto funk sound thats taking the mid-tempo breaks scene by storm. the first release comes from featurecast who is one of the biggest names in the biz and contains four absolute bangers that will no doubt destroy dancefloors wherever they are dropped. all tracks are remakes of classic anthems and have given the ghetto funk treatment with massive beats and huge wobbly basslines that will send both the kids and the more mature ravers into hedonistic oblivion. a very impressive debut from the label and a perfect snapshot of what this scene is all about.
our dutch counterpart onno is known for his dance floor mastery. his after school ep on upon you was a multifunctionalmover that could teach any lethargic raver a few aerobic moves. >hit me< is in the same league and is completely unsuitable for yoga and pilates, so hes succesfully targeted the blonde dance instructor once again. onno brings the a1 fatburner to a peak with his charming impertinence. thomas schuhmachers pimped version of this awesome rave stepper on b1 tugs and pulls at your pants dragging you kicking and screaming to the dance parquet, where you soon realize that you never want to leave, but for those of you that want to lose some weight also know that you always need to condition yourself and >ghetto talk< on b2 is the perfect bouncy tune for that hour or so on the treadmill.
the official follow up to legowelts >vatos locos< lp, last years magnum opus/tour de force/piece de resistance etc (did we loose your attention yet?). ever since the inclusion of these tracks on the extremely limited (and partially withdrawn) >vatos locos< cd - we ve had many requests to put them on vinyl. who are we to fly in the face of popular demand? so here it is, on glorious virgin black vinyl in a gorgeous sweet n sober sleeve. inside you find four tracks of patented deep(house) jakking wolfers madness .. two bangers and two intropersective low-ridin rolers. not only great for ghetto gardening and home improvement, but also for workin up a sweat on the dancefloor.

dance mania was a chicago label founded ray barney in 1985, and was distributed out of his legenday barneys onestop. from the very beginning it was known for raw, percussive tracks from the dirty side of disco and in the 90s laid down over 200 12inchs that were the blueprint for what is now known as >ghettohouse<, or >bootyhouse<. this sound became the foundation for many regional styles of dance music including detroits >ghettohouse<, baltimores >club<, and the current sound of chicagos neighborhoods known as >juke<. we are happy to announce volume 2 of the ghetto classics series with this 4 track ep from two of our favorite ghettohouse producers. features >wouldnt you like to be a hoe<, taken from the >taris is paris< 12inch on dance mania (dm131) and >groove mode<, taken from the >funk city< 12inch on dance mania
kid ringo and ghetto priest present >life<. a coming together musically in early 2006 when acclaimed roots and dub vocalist ghetto priest(on u sound, african head charge, concscious sounds)first heard the seductive, leftfield beats from prague based producer james baseley(kid ringo).the track >life< was born, with ghetto priest penning the emotive and conscious lyrics. not content with their own musical vision some further fuel was added to the fire from a clutch of remixes from czech nu jazz maestro boris carloff and czech brokenbeat pioneer dj blue from eclectica(pragues only real bruk up club night!)the pairs debut release for red salamanda marks a return to the surface for the prague based label, who have been lying low biding their time of late. for further info and audio samples check the following myspace pages.
