nice price deal !!! borngräber & strüvers latest album represents a unique selection of chamber music compositions created in the period of 2000 through 2012. this denotes a new facet in the musical cosmos of the berliner duo, combining influences in the range of minimal music, classic and baroque, as well as the art of improvisation and pop culture. clouds can be considered as an album for fans of richard skelton, the caretaker and christian naujoks, but its distinctive work manages to reach a far wider audience. the album begins with the piece wellen (waves) for soprano and strings. the music is arranged and composed in a sort of wavy-shape, as the title suggests. it is a piece in the purest form of minimalism: without an end, without a beginning. the following track mobile pays homage to richard strauss don quixote, as musical parts and constantly changing atmospheres reconcile to create a sense of movement and mobility. last but not least, secret bells represents an instant composition as charles mingus would say, combining piano works and field recordings. clouds 1-3 were written for a virtual chamber orchestra and join together to give the album its leading name. these >clouds< differentiate themselves trough stylistic influences, ranging from classical to the latest in music.

romare is a young london to paris transient crate digger, collecting dusty snippets of undead voices and antiquated rhythms. once in his underground lab, these pieces of yesterday are chopped, spliced and reattached to create the sound of tomorrow. this ep explores the connection between the history of african and african-american culture in the form of collage to create musical conversations between the past, present and future.
samples of songs, speeches, interviews, field recordings and films were carefully chosen and rearranged: rhythms from africa are integrated with voices from harlem, conversations about race and identity between writers and ethnomusicologists are constructed, speeches from activists are conjoined with the voices of prisoners. this process of combining pre-existing material has inspired three >meditations on afrocentrism<.
in keeping with black acres genre dodging output, romares merging of traditional rhythms of africa with the contemporary tempos of footwork and house is a bridge between the tradition sound palette of africa and future dance rhythm.

nice price deal !!! vae victis is back for its 2nd release and is glad to welcome the very first debut of nightjars. with this 4 tracks ep the label shifts on a different musical path, sound and style wise. sound wise, both sides are written, mixed and produced on hardwares and polarized on a ferromagnetic tape. technically, side a (raw side) is mixed with a tough multitrack mixer brought to its saturation limit: the sound is indeed distorted, raw and unfriendly. while the flipside (clean side) is instead mixed with a big class a vintage studio mixer. the sound is brighter, richer of harmonics and the infrasounds are charged thru a wide dynamic range. style wise,the label shifts on a more broken beat field, lets call it bass, dubstep or whatever, but anyway something which should put this vinyl in the records bags of all the lovers of shed, peverelist and horsepower productions to name a few.

>aspen< is the name of christian loefflers single before his debut album on ki called >a forest<. the name of the single is not to be misunderstood as a dedication to the ski resort in colorado. its rather a dedication to christian loefflers home region in the north of germany. loeffler walked out into the forests near darss, to take field recordings of the trees that commonly grow in that area, which are called >aspen<. the landscape near darss is characterized by signs of storm and rough sea climate, but is also considered as a popular health resort in germany. the tracks on >aspen< create this contrary atmosphere: noise and silence, destruction and peacefulness, electronic sounds and traditional instruments unite in harmony. the cover artwork for >aspen< was taken by christian loeffler himself in the forests of darss.

having finished recording the new zombie zombie album (out: april 2012), etienne jaumet leaves temporarily the duo to record a solo piece, as a need to find oneself again … if the word satori means spiritual awakening, the title track that offers etienne seems to describe the way to this awakening … a winding and sometimes dark path, taking inspiration from both dark disco and synth wave (etienne is particularly keen of those genres, you can listen to his new podcast for versatile records as an evidence) and also to some kind of trance… on b side, jon convex, newcomer on the dubstep / uk garage field and signed on martyns label, delivers a clearly club oriented version, by injecting syncopated beat and the funky groove unique to uk garage.

we are happy to introduce a brand new act to the scene: dscrd, a young band of five alien electronic music composers from paris, france. in mountain cabins with high range microphones, in dark parisian suburbs with broken synths, and, really lost somewhere in outer space mostly of the time, dscrd have been creating their very own alchemy. this is their debut ep on dement3d records, and it is brilliantly blending techno, dub and ambient-noise with field recordings, dark atmospheres and syncopated rhythms made with poetry and dedication. >this record is a statement, and we are proud to present it as our very first release @ dement3d records.<

former member of french duo lownza, lowris develops here his solo project futher. while his first record along with chris carrier received the highest praises, his presence on piemonts remix album, next to jay haze or uner, shows that lowris is gently tracing his own path in the electronic field. the >carambar de toi< ep gathers a collection of generous and warm deep house sonorities. spectral sound new recruit pawas is on remix duties for the title track of this third popcorn release. on his version, pawas blends pads, drums and guitars with a round driving bass. freshly signed on poker flat, is frenchman andrade who offers here a gliding reword of >jackin oz<. the original version is a subtle track structured by a frank bass and a distant sonar.

returning to flapjack records vinyl department after a 10 release difference are those lovely uk chaps jackin box. to celebrate their return, they present us with the time honored traditional fun filled experience of the >cow tippin ep<. i used to think this may have only been an american past time, but apparently this is an international phenomena. not only do we love to eat cows, but we like to fuck with them for fun, by pushing them over while helplessly asleep standing up in a field. what a total dick move, but is as equal in fun as it is in douche baggery. so flapjack commends these boys and the fine jams that have inspired such mindless fun.

the second in the sold out series combines the powers of three of the hottest producers in the disco game right now. heading up the field is toomy disco with a monster of a track. deep, hypnotic and swirling >into the flashlights< hits you right in the chest, a certified dancefloor bomb, make no mistake. on the flip, remixer and producer de jour mario basanov reworks a lesser know stevie wonder track into a towering disco gem! soaring pads elevate the track to dizzy heights before its dropped back down into the groove to great effect. finally sean roman pulls apart, loops up and glues back together a boogie banger in the vein of tiger & woods. all in all a damn useful 12 inch
