multi instrumentalist and singer maryja symone johnson and percussionist eric thomas joined together at the rhythm sticks festival in london in july 2004 to create new sounds that have been influenced by afro-caribbean origins. they have successfully performed at different concerts and festivals throughout europe. their first single >je suis music< edited by thiaba records is an adaptation of the original disco hit written in 1978 by international artist cerrone. afro-urban concept completely transformed this song by playing soca grooves with new melodies but the dance floor flavor stays alive. on side 1 is the vocal version with some extended piano, drums and percussions improvisations at the end. on side 2 the first track is an instrumental version recorded with the typical 70s sound where the drums and percussion are in evidence. the second track is more an hypnotic london drum n bass version.

on the a side >bellawatt< - a big room techno with a disco feel and a rumbling bassline on point with todays sound. a2 brings us >ductile< introducing a jackin chicago vibe with a more techno attitude on the beats and a pumping tribal groove on the subs. >this goes out to ron hardy he from chicago< belches the spoken word. funked up to the max! on the flip >route 277< is a warm tech house affair with a dub mood and a strong banging hihat beat and the last joint goes deep and techy with a hypnotic vocal and a haunting oriental melody, all summed up in a percussive jungle mood. overall a very strong and dj friendly release to stay in the box and a perfect follow up to alexs latest releases on arearemote, cecille and tuning spork earlier this year!

the 2nd ep vinyl preview of the highly anticipated italoboyz full length bla bl bla (out in september) on mothership. not everyone is aware that both marco and fede migrated north to london from italy several years ago. this move has influenced their sound, hence the where is london? ep this ep also marks the start of their new live instrumentation work. where is london draws its title from a big ben sample put in reverse, but it also features experimental live piano work (piano strings struck with paper mallets) re-twisted into their addictive drum patterns. on the other side, lanagramme features salvador dalis voice and the interesting dual piano work of their good friend angelo. italoboyz are always pushing the boundaries and testing the limits of traditional dance-floor music and this is no exception.

rene amesz is back with a bang with this excellent single on rising music. rene is at his best on this sleazy, low down dirty slab of tech house. his characteristic beats slide along underneath a filthy bassline and mesmerizing vocal loop. plenty of soaring synths keep this track building and building the whole way through. an essential track for every main room from london to sydney.
adam beyer retruns home to release on his own drumcode imprint with his first solo release on the label for a very long time!! this year will see adam release more of his own superb solo material across his 3 labels - this release being the first. the a side track - >london< is an epic building killer subjecting your senses to a 10 minute barrage with its clever builds and peaks. on the flip side >whos got the virus< is a nagging funky groover with its amazingly addictive bassline, vocal refrains and atmospherics
dje lean aka confetti bomb has worked for a very well respected london record store for 9 years. hes also been a dj & live performer since the mid - nineties and has put these combined experiences into creating a unique form of stripped down, deep techno. his fever ep for london label underl_ne was featured on the uks bbc radio one and received extensive dj support at the highest level. he also features in the juno records 10th anniversary remix series with a peak time re work of carl craigs detroit experiment classic think twice. his debut ep for autoreply features an appearance from one of his favourite producers jerome sydenham who takes time out from his hectic dj schedule & ibadan label duties to provide us with a truly timeless mix of 10 second detox. with its persistent rolling percussion & warm deep pads the mix satisfies all senses. a short interlude follows this in the form of 5 second detox - created using an atari st & beat up yamaha sampler. this is the perfect tool to start or end your set with or to add your own beats to. the choice is yours. on the aa side we have 20 second detox - big sounding hooky techno featuring crisp percussion & analog synths incorporating long warm beatless periods with bursts of pounding drums. this track teases you until the mid section where it goes off all guns blazing. finaly detox is a lofi housy workout which has been described to us as troy pierce meets inner city...sounds interesting huh? drop the needle on it & make up your own mind.

exercise one remix the first release from grecoroman - london darling david e sugar. the circumstances are certainly mysterious, but anyone who heard exercise one live these past months will know this mix takes the roof off. exercise one hop in to inject some kreuzberg attitude with a pumping bassline, but nod to london with their thunderous, hands in the air, finale. a personal favourite of the exies - oi oi london this is kreuzberg

the record was born too early, when house music was still very underground, so consequently it passed into house music history with only a very few discerning djs and collectors owning original us copies. in keeping with chicagos musical history, one of the unsung heros of house has been drafted in to keep the new versions feet firmly on the ground. craig loftis aka grand high priest who along with joe promised land smooth on keys! give the track a more understated could upstate from london back to chicago with 3 killa mixes
