while we love to dance at correspondant, we have also been known to think from time to time to, so it s exciting for us to have been given the opportunity to combine the two things when presented with some new music from two of our favourite producers, marvin and guy. as such, correspondant 42 represents a more conceptual approach for the italian duo, informed by long countryside drives, the names of classic cars as learned from an illustrated childrens book, a yearning to move away from the pack of identikit dance music and a need to connect with their music in a physical way, as provided by the recorded hand clapping refrain running throughout the tracks.

taking chris munoz s (aka the sexicans) take on sometimes from the forthcoming spike remix lp orange cloud version as its starting point, golf channel favourite justin van der volgen shunts this bad boy that little bit further through the doors of the club, puts something on its tongue and kicks it into the big room.beefy drums, a stoopid fresh bass line, big vocals and a tough, explosive, rocky guitar riff ensure this one has anthem written all over it.flip over for 4 more unheard spike gems, little lost nuggets that didn t find their way on to the much loved lp orange cloud nine but need to be heard: you can do it is much in demand already amongst those that know, and the closing cut careful is a fragile beauty.

stl has been a firm favourite of phonica records ever since his first releases surfaced in the early 2000s. although he is highly revered within the underground scene, hes always kept a low profile and consistently pursued his own blend of boundary pushing abstract and experimental house & techno. the majority of his music has been released through his own something imprint but his unique productions have also found a home on perlon, smallville and detroits echospace. the two tracks on the amplified bleep package ep marks his first contribution to phonicas white label series and were extremely happy have him on board.

two gold standard musical compositions i wont insult by labelling with a genre. *truth is the key* is one of my favourite tracks period, the arp solo just does it for me in every way. the vocal will be familiar as irene datcher also sang on the james mason lp (who also features on these tracks). *dreamflower* should need no introduction, famously sampled by erykah badus *didnt cha know* and many others. this is a sublime landscape is notable for ryo kawasakis dreamy guitar work, stone cold classic. both sides surprisingly have never graced the 7 inch format until now, absolutely essential 45.

ruf dug’s debut album ‘island’ was released to much acclaim in 2015 on kenneth bager’s music for dreams imprint. it sold out its first promo run within weeks and scored top spots in many ‘best of year’ reviews. now for 2016, ruffy has picked some of his favourite artists to rework his tracks and this is the result. limited vinyl - dont sleep!

the last few years has seen parris make a name for himself across a number of scenes, to the extent he is just as likely to be found spinning records for butterz as he is putting records out on berceuse heroique. here at idle hands we first touched base with parris many moons ago when he bought copies of the first release on his soundman chronicles label into our shop. as it is one of our favourite labels we were intrigued to hear what he would come up with as producer himself. needless to say we were impressed. presented here are two tracks that perfectly reflect his sound and our own a nod to techno here, a weighty bass line there, a love of reverb everywhere and all with a view to being played in dark rooms late at night. the 12 inch of burr and blue is idle hands last release of 2015 and we think it rounds off nicely what has been a great year for the label.

an ep of golden bug on lddlm has been a long-time coming. paths crosses, encounters, similitudes. but it took all of us time to agree on how golden bug should fit into our mortal ethics of fragmentation: we don t want to sound like anybody else, each track on the ep should all sound different. the french but barcelona based producer played our game, anticipating his future and very diverse album with a spook yet catchy 12inch. wild boys was an instant ear-catcher, some proto funk with a very strong vocal by yan wagner that made it sound like duran duran on speedball. it was hard to take it to another level but lord tusk, one of our favourite producers of the emerging -no genre london scene beefs it up, kraftwerk way. its moody as we all are. ik voel je shows the more experimental spaced out side of golden bug, we d call it space rock if we had to. do not neglect l-horloge, it s slow, dark, menacing but it s a real time bomb if tuned correctly.

aus follow up some landmark records from the likes of bicep, shenoda, youandewan and new addition fold with the return of a label-favourite - the esteemed man of the moment marquis hawkes who offers up his first full length ep on aus in the form of chances. in the wake of his recent outing on houndstooth as well record on dixon avenue basement jams and clone jack for daze, the london born berlin based producer does what he does best for his aus debut and lines up three rapturous jams packed with disco loops and tough analogue drum work all suffused a signature degree of grit.

the imogen label launched back in september with a pair of ilija rudman remixes of london acid jazz favourite brand new heavies. this second release sees them change tack somewhat, adopting an archival focus to dig out two tracks by croatian hero ilan kabiljo. known mostly for his 90s work, kabiljo comes from legendary croatian music stock - his father was composer and musician alfons alfi kabiljo. this expression 12inch sees imogen dig through the ilan archives for two rare and unreleased tracks records in 1990, with a side cut cool nights a supple midnight saunter through jazz funk that highlights kabiljo s compositional class. golden days is just as good as sounds like a loving homage to the 80s.

city fly are very excited to present their latest 12 inch, this time coming from long time friend of the label and all round powerhouse kez ym. the leicester label have long been representing for the east midlands underground house scene, bringing local talent to the world and bringing global connections to their locale. hot off the back of their 10th release celebration va and a strong offering from legend tim toh, the japanese connoisseur kez ym is back with more of the goodness that has made him a favourite of the label from such an early stage.
the ep drips with kezs trademark blend of deepness, kicking off with the heads down groover of *bump into the sky*. next up *eagle eye* builds around crisp 909 drums and a super tight bass line. pure classic vibes from start to finish. over on the flip *my joy* is underpinned by deep, jazzy chords and finishing off we have *spiral traffic* which takes things to a new tip entirely with an almost latin feel to the chord patterns.

*agraphobia* by la synthesis is considered by many as one of the most beautifully crafted string-driven techno tracks of all time. originally released in 1994 it has received somewhat of a legendary cult status. 21 years later it is now time to breathe new life into this essential track and make it available again for a new generation of electronic music enthusiasts. together with de:tuned, la synthesis handpicked some of their favourite producers to rework the original and the results are mind-boggling to say the least.

a decade on from his debut release, one of romanias finest cultural exports returns to his favourite stomping ground with a transmission that showcases variety, technical skill and an intimate understanding of the dynamics of the floor.

matt edwards (radio slave) returns to his rekids label under the guise of b.a.d.s (berlin amateur dramatics society) - a new project cooked up with spencer parker and francesco de nittis aka mr ties, in order to release this track he made especially for an appearance at de nittis homopatik party at berlin s about blank last year. since debuting the track it has gone on to become not only an anthem for the part itself (the a capella has become a regular a favourite mr ties opener for homopatik sets), but a goto crowdpleaser for the handful djs such as nina kraviz who have drawn for its infections energy over the past year. imbued with the with all the infamous mischief of homopatik and the historical clubbing lineage the party is rooted within within, hous-o-matik hom-o-patik does everything you would expect it to: it gets the party started. b.a.d.s will return later in the year with spencer parker and mr ties own versions of the track

the latest release from guy gerbers respected rumors label comes in the form of this 4-track ep from elusive producer clarian. a regular guy gerber collaborator and remixer, clarian has also recently released on the likes of anjunadeep, turbo, life and death, supplement facts and my favourite robot. despite his mysterious persona, clarian is regularly booked to play slots at some of the worlds best clubs fabric, watergate, and output to name just a few.

the summer of 2015 sees gruuv celebrate 5 years in the game. we have put together a brand new compilation featuring 25 of our favourite artists, which will be released as 6 x 4 track vinyl releases every two weeks throughout the summer and features artwork from the renowned victoria topping. each ep will be released on limited edition vinyl, with a free poster and sticker inside, uniquely stamped from 001 - 500. thanks to everyone involved, all around the world. music provides the greatest unity. it strips away indifferences, supersedes language, nationality, culture, all defining human factors, and leaves one common thing we can all interpret, sound.

vent adds yet again new sonic influences to its palette, this time owing thanks to its main curator tolga baklacioglu. with this release, we are pleased to add more than just a sprinkle of industrial and ebm influences to the catalogue of records we are proud to say is the sound of vent. to make things even better, one of more interesting techno producers as of late, and also sweden’s favourite son - daniel andréasson - wanted to lend us a hand to really bring the point home with this record. laden heavy with distortion, this release goes further than one can call the lofi sound - instead the thought is taken to its logical conclusion: distortion is as much an element in its own right as time, space and velocity.

belgian producer and owner of entrepot records, uc beatz, is the next artist to appear on the san jose label, roundabout sounds. coming out on vinyl only, the la nuit ep features some sublime house, including my favourite track on the ep, alta paper, and a remix of the title track by jeremiah of grow! records out of vienna. roundabout sounds which is now up to release number 14 with this ep, is the label run by joe babylon marougi, co-founder of plug research. the label released a great various artists triple vinyl package, connecting the compass, that featured such house luminaries marcellus pittman, norm talley and theo parrish, among others.

taking the counter comment to the album’s title track ‘the day is my enemy’, the prodigy are pleased to offer details of a forthcoming ep entitled ‘the night is my friend’ on limited translucent vinyl. the ep includes album tracks ‘get your fight on’ and ‘rhythm bomb’, two fresh remixes and the previously un-released, fan favourite ‘awol’. ‘awol’ has been a track the band have played live since 2012 but as the album writing and recording process developed the band decided to hold awol back . now, after reworking it into a new unheard version they feel it’s time to make it available on record.

18+ return with their they remixes ep, a collaboration with artists they respect and admire, with a purpose to reinvent their favourite tracks taken from their critically acclaimed debut album trust . featured artists include the distorted trap beat darling suicideyear (prod. for yung lean), experimental grime producer mr. mitch, and the cult portuguese collective tia maria producoes. the final feature is relatively unknown puerto rican artist audri nix, whose unofficial remix for crow first caught the attention of the band for its similarities to their own aesthetic and magpie-like approach to art. sung all in spanish, audri provides original lyrics just keeping the band’s beats. the 12inch is cut & mastered by matt colton

the a&r edits return with a double-header from hot digits head honcho fingerman. the brighton producer grew up listening to his parents enviable steely dan record collection and for his comeback outing on a&r has retouched the de la soul-sampled classic, peg. a tight circle of djs have road tested this rework over recent times and we ve been inundated with requests for its release. in 1970, new york session drummer bill curtis merged the fatback jazz beat of new orleans into a street funk band and signed his outfit to perception records. over the next decade, they incorporated jazz and disco into their signature funk style, before moving in an r&b direction in the 80s. during this period, american pop success proved elusive, but the group made regular appearances in the uk singles chart, hitting the top twenty three times with (are you ready) do the bus stop , (do the) spanish hustle and i found lovin it s the latter, an anthem on the uk black music scene in 1984, that has been served up here by fingerman, a staple at his casablanca jazz club residency in brighton and now available on wax for the first time.

the exotic * sombra india* gets to works with slick guitar licks and a driving beat, enhanced with powerful and captivating vocals from eduardo castillo. already a firm favourite of damain lazarus and luciano, this has been getting a huge response on dance floors this summer. on the flip and the cut-up afro-house * sanura* is highly exotic driving monster of a tune, no messing around, straight to the dance floor!
german native sis shot into the limelight in 2008 with releases on cecille and ricardo villalobos label * sei es drum*, which up until that point had only showcased ricardos own productions. no stranger to the crosstown rebels catalogue, he delivered the first ever rebellion release and then later the * round pen ep* on crosstown rebels in the summer of 2012 and the more recent * slider* on rebellion. other productions have appeared on esteemed labels such as cocoon, 8bit, connaisseur, get physical, with a more recent album on cocolino.

big with dixon, the drifter, alex niggemann, fur coat, thugfucker, frankey and sandrino. -sketches of pain- is a meet-up of two cultures which have been at war with each other for thousands of years. music unites where the world of men divides! here the magical voice of egyptian singer ahmad elsawy can weave its spell. intelligent electronica, ethnic and acoustic instruments, all join together once more to blend two worlds into one universal language. 3 remixes. luca bacchetti continues his series of endless remixes preferring a mostly dub feel with a version that retains some of the original elements, creating that tension culminating in what is the “suspended” sonic idyll that lately has characterized his breakdowns, by now a trademark of his. jon charnis, who we already know for his work on innervisions and all day i dream, has taken it in another direction to put together a true masterpiece, the tone here becoming more -trippy- with a pure afterhours atmosphere. the ever present and increasingly detailed groove add to that magic touch that has made charnis one of the most interesting techno artists on the american scene. last but not least one of our favourite techno artists, eduardo de la calle, surprises us with an interpretation that distances itself completely from the original, moving it into that enigmatic, mysterious and unregulated territory that is definitely his very own unmistakable way of living and feeling techno music. an ep that we expect will come-out from indoor clubs to find its best expression in exotic locations, deserts, beaches, dimensions that are part of that imaginary world that we call: endless.

yes, so we re finally here, the 100th release of gamm enterprises ! since the very first release with red astaire s now classic follow me gamm have remixed, reworked and edited almost every style under the black music banner. gamm have and will always aim to deliver dj friendly black dance music regardless of style. gamm simply bring out that little extra in your favourite tunes. so for our 100th anniversary release we thought we really needed to bring out the big guns. what could be better than an ep where the mighty the reflex and up and coming remix star moplen came together and re-work the greatest artist of al time, michael jackson! sounds pretty good right? the reflex, moplen and mj...what a trio! well, there s not much more to say really except that if you like disco, boogie and mj this is the biggest musical home run of all time. lets boogie...gamm style!

spilt milk return with their second release from mr spilt milk himself tred benedict. tred drops a tasty original track full of groove and energy, alot like the man himself. on remix duties, label favourite marcashken turns a wonderful interpretation and the awesome mihai popoviciu takes things up a notch with a classy techno work out. the final track is another original but this time in collaboration with label partner st. bernard, with the pair dropping a rather murky minimal number with some choice words from one of their idols.

lunar disko is back once again. this time to present ldr_17, featuring another firm lunar favourite - john heckle. heckle debuts on lunar disko with 5 raw cuts from a distant dimension. encompassing much of the merseysiders signature sound, *blues for a red giant* shimmers throughout with distorted percussion, otherworldly melodies, and driving basslines to create another masterful ep from an artist who continues to push the boundaries of house and techno.

stay underground it pays returns! relatively unknown newcomer modula brings us a slab of ruff n ready analog cuts, with a real standout remix from fuckthegovernment! said remix of controllo by f.t.g is so good that it is the opener of the whole record. it’s a remix built for late night experiences, one for the warehouse, with it’s wailing, ravey vocal samples and subterranean rolling acid bassline. the a side is rounded off by modulas tape mix of controllo. doing what it says on the tin, the graininess and saturation that tape production brings is instantly noticeable. while the tape mix is not as sinister as f.t.gs remix, nor as spatially dense, its greater emphasis on synth work is bound to make it a favourite for many suit fans.the b side takes on more of techno form than the a side. kicking off with intrigo (tape edits), the pad sounds give it an ethereal atmosphere, contrasting the almost militant feel of the percussion and bassline. immerso (instrumental mix) is probably the highest energy pick of the bunch, lots of bleepy synth work and crispy power claps might make this track the djs pick of the record. all in all, a top record from modula! dont sleep on it!
