first lp in new series from finland, this subdue jazz drone album has the quality of dusk, but is never darker than the nordic summers. atonal & forceful at times, still padded and invitingly warm, it has 4 classy pieces that enjoy being on the fringes while slowly capturing the ear when organs drone, the tr-808 thumps, the percussive double bass and the saxophone layers fog of melodic growing waves of groove.

pupil dilations - new ep by russian producer kausto (real name kuzma palkin) for roots united records. 5 tracks was produced in 2004 - 2007 in kausto’s hometown severodvinsk on a vintage pc using jeskola buzz tracker and old vst plugins. main source of inspiration - music of that time: baby ford, humanoid, 808 state’s newbuild, as well as analord series by afx.

following on from 2014’s “hantasive” lp on opal tapes, kaumwald have returned with a new suite of totally bugged out improv techno and electroacoustic burn entitled “rapa nui clan”. they’re a hard act to define, unifying the tabletop thrift attack of amm or early wolf eyes against bold modular driven beats rich with crust. the albums title and tracks speak toward a sense of new discovery, voyaging and exploring.
