repress !! students red axes are very excited to present the first part of their new project called: trips, a multi media venture combining music, film and travelling across the globe in pursuit of extra ordinary collaborations. niv arzi and dori sadovnik are seeking to discover new grounds and sounds, and to record local musicians, indigenous instruments and present workshops for youth music schools. in march of 2017, the israeli duo touched down in africa for the first time, and set up camp in both ethiopia and ivory coast, yielding in africa, a triple header ep which features three slices of contemporary body music, with both east and west african musical motifs. the project will always present a musical release, on vinyl and digital, that was created on the trip, accompanied with a documentary, showing the whole journey.

dark entries is honored to release a 4-track ep by red axes, the prolific production duo of dori sadovnik and niv arzi from tel aviv. the pair were raised on a diet of post-punk, new-wave, and italo-disco at fogged out warehouse and basement parties. their own productions and remixes have appeared on labels such as i?m a clich?, correspondant, and hivern discs. ?nyx tape? features two new compositions backed with two edits from our catalog. first up is the slick electro anthem ?5 min? another collaboration with french-canadian born singer chlo? raunet aka c.a.r. followed by ?nyx tape? featuring charismatic singer-lyricist gina kikoine aka gina x, who reached out after hearing their remix of her classic single ?no gdm? that was a huge anthem on the tel aviv 80s underground scene. the track is an ecstatic dance to the rhythm in the darkness with gina?s ice cold teutonic spoken word taking creative inspiration from the jewish mourners? prayer ? the kaddish. on the b-side ?destination moon? by solid space from 1982 has been given a dancefloor makeover with moody synths and a haunting guitar line reminiscent of an adrian sherwood dub. closing this ep is a hypnotic edit of ?la machine ? r?ver? by french bedroom synth freaks x-ray pop from 1984 slowed down to a 4/4 groove that takes the original to outer space and back. all songs have been mastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. the ep is housed in a custom made jacket that features an original collage by eloise leigh representing nyx, the greek goddess of the night. each copy included a postcard with notes and lyrics.

while red axes s ode to the sun is still running strong one and a half years after its release (it even made it into last year s top 50 at resident advisor), here comes the heavyweight remix package: german wunderkind konstantin sibold is hitchhiking the original into afro rave territories with vodoo percussions and a hauting bassline that will be hard to escape from. fango from the italian degustibis family continues his string of strong remixes as he turns the original into a rough beat version just to drop the melody in the break for maximum dancefloor mayhem. and last but not least the axes themselves come up with a tropical house version that works any time any place. and thus the sun continues to shine.

it was such a hot day in may 2014, we all remember, moscoman drop by his home town of tel aviv to do a party with krikor aka crackboy as his guest, they had a few hours to kill just before the gig, mosco rang up his old compadres and brothers in arms red axes, to see what they were up to, they were just hanging at the studio, “we’re coming” he said, and the rest is history, thanks to the taxi driver abed that was waiting downstairs to take them to the gig, they had vocals to finish this track and mosco had the chance to play this track that night already. powered by a uncompromising mix from no doubt one of the best producers of electronic music, roman flügel, and another killer by red axes, not a lot is left to do but wait for this monster record to drop.

for our milestone 50th release we felt we needed to do something special, so with that in mind we present the return of red axes to correspondant. way back in 2013 we were a new label, and they were a new face on the scene. their hit record camino de dreyfus helped propel both the label and the artist in to the established figures that both are today. avalon combines everything thats good about the axes, with their signature new wave sound taking in the tropics, but skewed through a middle eastern kaleidoscope. sequencia astronomical is familiar territory to many red axes releases, but takes everything either deeper, darker, or weirder than theyve previously ventured, showing the huge growth in their confidence in the intervening 3 years since their last correspondant ep. to round off the package correspondant also presents an as yet unavailable instrumental version of camino de dreyfus

mosco fell asleep and awoke days later with red axes. this is their joint offering for the esp institute. dikembe manutu, the fictional character whos name gives title to our thumping a side, establishes a lush theme based on meandering steel drums and reverberating toms while a slew of rich percussion leads us through the jungle on a melodic galloping bassline. once this deep groove gets us rolling, were treated to a variety of twinklling melodies that float high above. on side b, rage in the cage is a true live drum machine jam, full of bleeps, detuned toms, abrasive cymbals, and plenty of left turns. we can only imagine the mood in the studio as these three old friends frantically smacked buttons and tweaked knobs, creating happy accidents and loving every menacing moment of chaos as they stirred this cauldron. these two songs will make you thirst for exotic nectars.

next up on crosstown rebels is the hauntingly beautiful release sabor from the tel-aviv based duo red axes, with brazilian-born abrao on vocals, and featuring a brilliant isolée remix to boot!

in the last few years, im a clichés edit service has established itself as constant source of quality edits for djs and music lovers. the concept is very simple. every two weeks or so, the label shares with the world an edit made by artists from its roster or producers it like

as big fans of red axes, were happy to welcome niv and dori to the label. their first release for hivern is pil sagol, a three-track ep that features some of their most adventurous material to date. the title track is a slice of shamanic house full of playful melodies, dripping textures and steady rhythms that result in the sonic equivalent of psychotropic trip through the jungle. me and abra in ruanda drops the tempo but keeps the mind-expanding effect with its mangled brass sounds and ceremonious pads. todum todum is the most dance floor-driven cut of the ep, building tension through distorted toms, reverberant claps and an unrelenting bass line whilst keeping the narcotic vibe of the whole release through highly enchanting cosmic melodies. the 12inch comes in a captivating sleeve by barcelona-based designer xavier marin.

opilec music s eclectic remix series rolls on with another essential package, this time tackling a single from label boss i-robots s law of robotics album back in 2008. adding their own spin to things are red axes and hiroshi watanabe aka kaito after likes of kuniyuki takahashi, djembe monks, danny ocean, los hermanos, gary martin, alexander robotnick, daniele baldelli & marco dionigi have all stepped up previously. isreali duo red axes go first, a pair known for mixing up synths and guitars in exciting new ways on labels like hivern discs, i m a cliche and esp institute amongst others. their excellent version of the track re-works it as a deep and spine tingling house cut. moody chords lull you into a hypnotic and zoned out groove that is finished with some intoxicating spoken words. hiroshi watanabe aka kaito is next, an acclaimed kompakt and transmat artist who makes succulent techno with ambient atmospheres. his brilliant version here is just that, with cosmic chords and slippery rubber beats carrying you away into the night. warm and inviting, it elevates you to the next level over its long length, it is a classy bit of techno that also comes as a stripped back instrumental version.

the next yoshitoshi classic is here and it s a heavy one - dino lenny s -i feel stereo.- anyone on the scene in 2001, when this monster tune was originally released, remembers its pulsing rhythms and ear-catching vocal hook. seventeen years later, -i feel stereo- is back with three remixes from some of the finest artists around. steve lawler (working here as lawler) has crafted a badass, bassline-driven house track that pummels with all the energy of the original. steve continues his reign as as key innovator in dance music, modernizing this classic with unquestionable finesse. the red axes boys deliver their silky smooth brand of minimal house with a variety of distorted arpeggio riffs, futuristic chimes, and other left-field sounds that make their remix truly unique. it s another ace production from the israeli duo. last but certainly not least, up-and-comer frankyeffe, who delivered the goods on his collaborative splitting minds ep with loco & jam last fall, serves up some impeccably produced techno for big, loud rooms. the italian phenom s mix is absolute savagery. of course, it wouldn t be a yoshi classic pack without a remastered original mix.

celebrating its 10 years label anniversary permanent vacation releases a top-notch package of 16 brand-new tracks by their main artists including john talabot, tuff city kids, mano le tough, tensnake, red axes, pional and many more. plus special guest joakim, who contributed the track camino de la luna, paying homage to his classic remix for antena s camino del sol, the first big hit on the label 10 years ago.

the first release from the new malka tuti record label introduces us to xen, a multi talented multi cultural singer, artist and designer from tel aviv. for her debut ep she went into the studio with the red axes lads to produce 2 original tracks for the a side as well as 2 different versions on the b side. after already collaborating with them on their track -this is it- for a correspondant records compliation on 2014, this time she takes a step forward and really brings out her post-cold-wave-some-wave attitude and delivers 2 psychedelic poppy tracks, highly influenced by german krautrock as well as british and french post-punk and israeli late 80s new-wave. on the b-side you can find a massive dancefloor remix from the red axes themselves as well as a secret psychedelic voodoo b-side.
