scenes from our classic future is the realization of three songs and two projects that came together as one. as young aspiring musicians since the early age of 12, greg paulus and john camp practiced playing jazz standards into the wee small hours of the morning together. eventually the two would find themselves both in new york under new and more electronic circumstances. deeply indebted to the mastery of herbie hancock, paulus and camp would reconnect, this time with synthesizers, and continue on their musical journey together.

finally the moment has arrived for us to release new original music on our own label! this monster release has a history that takes us back more than four years to a 48 hour studio session at our beloved marcy hotel in brooklyn, ny. the original collaborative effort came from a laundry list of familiar crew love players including soul clap s charlie and eli, wolf + lamb s gadi mizrahi, no regular play s greg paulus, the lovely deniz kurtel and even mr. fantastic himself, lee curtiss. after all was said and done the body and inspiration of the record was there but what was lacking was a strong vocal. enter robert owens, arguably one of the most prolific and sonically recognizable singers in house music period

back in 2009, exactly five marches ago, culprit began its journey. 5 years of existence is a significant mark for a label and worthy of some introspection. with its new release, the los angeles­based label celebrates one of its most recognisable elements, the standard hotel rooftop, the site of the labels signature parties for the past 6 years: its been more that just a location – the rooftop has become the essential ingredient of culprits philosophy. inspiring a successful three-part compilation series, above the city, which has united some of the best young production talent around, the series has showcased a particular brand of warm summer­time sound, modern yet timeless. each remix is a culprit debut for all of the remixers. yet, each of them is part of the extended group of friends of the label, a like­minded tight­knit collective

culprit makes a fourth stop on its european talent-scouting trip, inviting the london- based swedish producer adeline to join the labels global motley crew. adelines confident use of her own voice as a major part of her music is a bold but justified choice. combining it with truly impressive sound design and strong musical ideas, with a touch of the unexpected, adds up to instantly memorably dance music. the three originals on her culprit debut speak to all these strengths.
